How To Apply For WIC In Rhode Island

Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, also know as WIC, is a program that is designed to help low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children 5 years old or younger who are at nutritional risk. The Rhode Island WIC program accomplishes this by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information that can help provide healthy eating options including breastfeeding, and referrals to health care. If you are looking to know how to apply for WIC in Rhode Island, then read the information provided below.

Applying for Rhode Island WIC benefits
To apply, call for an appointment at a local WIC office. WIC benefits are available to women who are pregnant, just had a baby, and to children under the age of five whose household meets income guidelines. The sooner you apply, the sooner you can receive benefits that will prepare you and your child for a healthy outcome. Women who apply early in their pregnancy are more likely to have a healthy baby. Children who stay on WIC until the age of five, are better prepared and more likely to succeed in school.
